De Passage, shopping in style
The Hague’s famous Arcade (Passage in Dutch) was built by local dignitaries between 1882 and 1885 for the express purpose of ‘high-class shopping’ in imitation of Paris. The Netherlands’ oldest shopping arcade, now an official UNESCO monument, is not only still intact – it is flourishing.
Nestled among passageways, glass atria, pedestrian bridges and chiselled façades, you will find 20 boutique stores, bustling food & drink establishments, and even a hotel.
With elements of both the past and the present. Indoors, stately, and stunningly beautiful.
